But they commonly fail...because they are not supported by the people who don't like the Democrats enough to Get Up Off Their Asses.
We do have more in play than that. I’ve seen people run for office, to be met by a made man who knew that 1. He was NOT going to lose no matter what 2. the exact metrics where he could very literally turn to face the other guy, say “election’s over” and nonchalantly go home because he just finished the project for his paycheck; or against someone who could tell him directly, “I don’t know why you’re in this race, I’m going to spend you out of it, you’re wasting our time.”
Our voting system IS rigged.
The same way that Trump couldn’t fire, appoint, or direct people at the presidential level, we have the same problem in local elected offices! There are unelected “civil service” equivalents operating locally!!
All that said, you’re most certainly not wrong. It’s just a good question how we can do anything about those issues.
