This is not necessarily inconsistent with a typical stage lighting situation. most of the lights will be focused on the pedophiles face, and the other shadows will be drowned out.

This is exactly what I was wondering, it was either stage lighting or they were trying to blind biden enough that he couldn't find someone to sniff.
