5G has all those nifty MIMO tech with multiple antennas on both sides. If the base station has an array of antennas that can direct the beam at your phone, the array can also direct the beam at your brain -- which may not be a very healthy thing in the long run. That's what I don't like about MIMO or phased arrays -- are there other peaks in the beam pattern, where are they, how strong are the emissions?
Phones have had this problem for a long time. When they had antennas, you were not supposed to touch them, especially while the phone was in use with a voice call. But the reasons and rationale behind this was always vague and never specific. I guess saying 'hey you want bone cancer in your fingers?' may have been an admission that legal at Nokia, Ericsson etc wouldn't ever allow anyone to disclose. So people just played pretend. Pretend warnings, and pretend acquiescence.
Then phones switched to having internal antennas! And apple who were among the first had the 'oh by the way, dont touch the case.. while the phone is in use!' stipulation/disclaimer.. causing no end of wtf until they rushed out a technical errata to magically fix the problem. Or pretended to. At the least they just stopped warning anyone about the case. And we never heard of this again.
And now there are millennials who have had phones against their heads since they were children. Now in their early and mid twenties, and who are frothing at the mouth barking mad. And everyone jokes about something being in the water making the kids crazy.. avoidance, nervous laughter, looking around to see who might be overhearing. Not mentioning anything like fluoride or hormones from over-use of the contraceptive pill, or phyto-estrogens in plastic or anything else because noticing is the real crime and a path to contrarian thought and dissident habit forming! And phones have had emission power and transmission frequencies increasing every couple of years as the tech changes and the older towers get obsoleted so you are compelled into the upgrade cycle.
They may not have quite the impact that smoking has on lung cancer but it would not be at all surprising to see the prevalence of strokes, tumours, cranial blood clots, alzheimers and all other brain degenerative diseases and conditions being exponential in the years to come.
Just because a wavelength is millimeters in length does not mean that it is dangerous (or at least not very dangerous). It depends on if that EMF is ionizing radiation or not.
Non-ionizing (or non-ionizing) radiation refers to any type of electromagnetic radiation that does not carry enough energy per quantum (photon energy) to ionize atoms or molecules—that is, to completely remove an electron from an atom or molecule.[1] Instead of producing charged ions when passing through matter, non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation has sufficient energy only for excitation.
Microwaves can still be used as weapons in DEWs and LRADs when TUNED APPROPRIATELY, but they will BURN and not mutate our DNA or cause cancer etc. The penetration is dependent on the wavelength.
Microwave frequencies penetrate conductive materials, including semi-solid substances like meat and living tissue, to a distance defined by the skin effect. The penetration essentially stops where all the penetrating microwave energy has been converted to heat in the tissue. Microwave ovens used to heat food are not set to the frequency for optimal absorption by water. If they were, then the piece of food or liquid in question would absorb all microwave radiation in its outer layer, leading to a cool, unheated centre and a superheated surface. Instead, the frequency selected allows energy to penetrate deeper into the heated food. The frequency of a household microwave oven is 2.45 GHz, while the frequency for optimal absorbency by water is around 10 GHz.

I hate phones.
