Facebook/WhatsApp/IG/etc. these are hosted on dozens of data centers across the earth. These data centers have network redundancies (not just infrastructure with power and cooling redundancies, but the idea of a RAID setup for entire data centers) for all of this to be dropping off it would require simultaneous action by MANY people. Or someone could just wipe the DNS!
I haven’t looked into this current outage too much but the DNS is a magical server that translates English to doot-Dots. You type in google, Domain Name Server sees that as 8.8.8.8.8 or whatever and directs you there.
If the server has all of the FB/WhatsApp/IG info removed/blocked/deleted/error out, these websites can’t be communicated with. This process is very much embedded in the code and links and how all these sites communicate, so taking it down will absolutely cripple things globally.
DNS servers are kind of like the FED. Super important for our current infrastructure, and owned by private entities who can basically do whatever they want. There is government regulations that do basically nothing except prevent you from making your own/breaking free of their system. I’m guessing it’s 100% DNS, and there is little to nothing that can be done by FB Techs.
It’s also possible they took their own shit down with internal sabotage, but I’d imagine them having their DNS info removed would still be easier self sabotage. (They still can sell their working assets if need be)

Couple of things -
If you are interested in Christian theology in general, this video will be interesting to you and you should watch it from the beginning.
