They are like hearing aids, compact and not really noticeable. They play fractal tones into your ears to "mask" the ringing. I got to try them for a free trial and they did work but they were definitely too expensive.

I have tinnitus in both ears and was at a point in my life where the anxiety it caused was overwhelming. Doctor said it would be about $4000 for tinnitus maskers, which I could not afford. It obviously was never going away so I decided to lean into it and I would lay in the bath for 30 minutes or so with my ears underwater where the sound was most deafening. This way, I couldn't escape the noise. I had to hear it. Eventually, I learned to accept the sound and my brain habituated it. I still hear it, but I no longer get anxiety or stress when I notice it. Maybe this can help him.
