thanks for the shout out - I've been researching her story for four decades, worked on both feature films about her. Been to Saipan, found 200 eyewitness reports, filmed 15 while there, people who saw her on Saipan during the war. US Marines reported finding her plane (on camera, interview) on June 19th, 1944, two weeks later, test flew it, then two to three weeks later destroyed it. It's not opinion, theory or belief - but based on dozens of US Marines on camera talking about finding her briefcase with maps, passport, finding the Electra in the only hangar with planes in it, then guarding it until they figured out what to do with it. They decided to destroy it (as it might reveal they'd broken the Japanese codes) The Marine I interviewed (EJ Nabers) said he also decoded a message the USS Indianapolis had been hit by a torpedo - but because that was a classified mission (delivered the atom bombs to Tinian) they didn't report it or send air sea rescue. (As "Jaws" notes, many died because of this). But they knew it had been hit and sent no one. Details are in the book SHE WAS NEVER LOST https://youtu.be/uMbKwF8ywKo
