The Department of Justice announced on Monday that the U.S. Marshals had arrested 833 individuals as part of Operation North Star II, a month-long crackdown against violent crime in 10 cities with high homicide rates.
"This 30-day initiative resulted in the arrest of 833 fugitives, violent criminals, sex offenders, and self-identified gang members in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Buffalo, New York; Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio; Detroit, Michigan; Jackson, Mississippi; Kansas City, Missouri; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Oakland, California; and Puerto Rico," the DOJ press release stated.
Attorney General Merrick Garland celebrated the results, saying they "should make clear that the Justice Department and our partners across the country will stop at nothing to find and bring to justice those responsible for violent crime… The U.S. Marshals Service, and the entire Justice Department, will continue to work in partnership with community leaders and law enforcement professionals nationwide to protect our communities."
Among those arrested were 95 individuals wanted for homicide and 68 for sexual assault. Law enforcement also recovered 181 firearms, more than 160 kilograms of illegal drugs, and more than $229,000.

According to a letter posted on Sunday, a political advocacy group supported by billionaire businessman Charles Koch is getting ready to participate in the presidential primary process for the year 2024. The group claimed it wants to support a candidate who could “guide the country forward.”
Americans for Prosperity (AFP), an organization that has never endorsed a presidential candidate, stated in the memo that having a president in 2025 who “represents a new chapter” would be beneficial for the nation.
The email, written by AFP Chief Executive Emily Seidel and distributed to activists and staff, urged them to “create a new chapter” and “turn the page on the past.” It did not specifically mention either incumbent President Joe Biden or his predecessor Donald Trump.

Amid revelations that President Joe Biden, former President Donald Trump, and now former Vice President Mike Pence all stored materials marked as classified at their private residences, the office of former President Barack Obama has declined to state its plans, if any, to conduct a search of his properties for similar materials.
Following the Tuesday report that Pence had found materials marked classified at his Indiana home, Fox News reached out to the 44th president's office seeking details on any plans Obama may have to search his own properties. Pence indicated that he searched his home following the discovery of documents in Biden's possession.
"We have nothing for you at this time," came the response from Obama Communications Director Hannah Hankins. Obama maintains residences in Washington, D.C.; Chicago, Ill.; Martha's Vineyard, Mass.; and New York, N.Y.; the outlet noted.

The Biden Administration is in deep water after it was revealed that two batches of classified documents were found at President Joe Biden’s Delaware home and his D.C. office before the midterms but only made public this week.
According to sources, among those, at least 10 of the documents were marked as “top secret intelligence,” which is the highest of the three levels of classification. In order, it goes from confidential, to secret, and top secret.
A source told CBS News that some of the material found can expose Biden’s shady business relationship with his son and pose “exceptionally grave damage” to national security if it gets leaked.
The White House claims that the confidential papers were “inadvertently misplaced” and that the president is “cooperating fully.”
However, it is unclear why Biden’s attorneys were looking for the classified documents in the first place.
Since the documents were exhumed by Biden’s team, three investigations have been opened by three entities: the House Oversight Committee, House Judiciary Committee, and Justice Department’s special counsel.

The Federal Aviation Administration announced that a nationwide system outage was likely due to incompetence on the part of some personnel.
A preliminary review supported the agency's conclusion Wednesday that the outage was due to a damaged database file; the question now being explored is how the file was damaged.
The review blamed employees who didn't follow the proper procedures.
"The agency determined that a data file was damaged by personnel who failed to follow procedures. The system is functioning properly, and cancellations today were below one percent," the FAA said in a statement obtained by Reuters.
The FAA did not say which procedures were skipped that led up to the situation.
