Measles and polio. A case of measles that caused permanent hearing loss and another was a woman who caught it while pregnant who was unvaccinated and her daughter has struggled horrendously all of her life (physical therapy, cognitive issues). Polio was a paralysis case born outside the US. That's just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

You have to remember that this community is highly biased towards not vaccinating. Also keep in mind that it's not an all or none situation. You could pick some that you think are more important and you can also have them administered on a delayed schedule so that it actually takes fewer shots, or do a mix of both strategies. I personally really like The Vaccine Book because it goes over every vaccine and disease in detail and with risks involved (chance of catching disease vs chance of complications from disease vs chance of complications from vaccine) without fear mongering, just facts, so that you can decide on what's best for you and your family.

Some important things to keep in mind is your lifestyle. Will the child go to daycare or stay home? Does your family travel around the world a lot or just locally? Etc.

Life experiences play a big role too. Most people only mention the damage caused to children by the vaccine, but I've also met people who decided to vaccinate their children after meeting people who suffer from lifelong complications of the diseases, which is why you have to take all the risks involved in to consideration to decide what decision you personally feel good about.
