I lived in China for 5 years and I will tell you it is a complete mess there. They have a billion people living in poverty and are a few missed meals away from some societal collapse. I could go on all day about the problems I saw there and how they are actually much worse than what the west is facing. It doesn't mean they aren't a threat, but they will never have the soft or hard power that the US has/had.
