I know smoking is bad, but so are a bunch of other things. That's not the point. The point is miss the way things were when I was growing up. We use to hang out and drink coffee and smoke partly because coffee is cheap and so were cigarettes, but we didn't drink alcohol.

Check out Joe Biden's speech today talking about peaceful transfer of power. He is very coherent and didn't bumble a word. I'm wondering if they manipulated him or drugged him for the Summer debate. He had just returned from a foreign policy trip for the debate.
For the life of me I still don't understand why they forced him out for Kamala. I just don't get it.

I go by alphaliberal because I'm an old fashioned type liberal in the mold of FDR and Truman, and Eisenhower to some extent. Those three did a real good job in keeping the country together through the Great Depression, WWII & Korea, and onto the 50s with the economic progress.
I believe in the social safety net, Social Security and other programs for those in need. I believe in unions and collective bargaining. I believe in private property. I believe in public schools not government indoctrination centers. I believe in individual freedom and free markets. I believe in the rights enshrined in the Bill of Rights and the mechanisms of government in the Articles of the Constitution. I believe in family and community.
So why does a liberal like me vote for Trump thrice?
He's pushing the old liberal values of jobs and investments at home. Only going to war when absolutely necessary and not just wars for money adventurism. He's also not a far rightwing radical religious conservative which is a big plus. A real liberal doesn't want transvestites in the girls locker room and sports. A real liberal proposes only 10% interest on credit cards as Trump has done. Or no taxes on Social Security as Trump has proposed.
I hope more liberals out there see what I see. Do I agree with everything Trump says? No. I especially do not like the likes of Mike Johnson and would rather someone like Matt Gaetz run the House or Rand Paul run the Senate. They are the true liberals not what we see out of the fascist illiberal DNC establishment goons.

As you know I've posted a week or so ago about the situation in WNC. I can tell you this FEMA and the state hasn't helped a bit. Most people got denied the $750 including me after calling FEMA three times and visiting their tent. The FEMA folks at the tent in Arden NC were nice but powerless. The did have a FEMA photographer there to make FEMA look good. I wasn't impressed.
Truth is the locals have gone above and beyond. The media WLOS ABC affiliate is a complete joke. WWNC 570 AM helped with local issues such as search and rescue and helping coordinate supplies live over the air, but was very hesitant to call out the State, FEMA, or Governor Cooper with the excuse 'talk politics later'.
This area will never be the same again. So many lost their livelihoods and businesses. The death count is being covered up. Believe it. The state slow walked everything. Believe it. I believe its been done on purpose.
Keep us in your prayers. So many dislodged from normal life, and so many missing and most likely perished. I hope we can return to normalcy but I doubt it will happen. This has changed the area for the foreseeable future.

I do not trust the police at all especially municipal police. Did you know that if your municipality is incorporated it is a corporation. It is no longer a common law local government it is an actual private corporation. So police work for a private corporation, and the police chief is not elected either. This is a big problem because the police chief and his force work on behalf of your private corporate municipality.
Wonder why people get ticketed for basically nothing? Wonder why they feel the need to come to your home without a warrant and believe they can do as they please? Wonder why even if a police officer is found guilty somehow they are rarely every fired and denied benefits and pensions?

I have a few cents in Stellar Lumens on Coinbase. I have 1 cent of unrealized gains. Isn't that absolutely nuts? I mean that is absolutely insanity.
I'm not a fan of the Wall Street vultures, and believe they should be taxed to the hilt while the working folks pay very little. But despite my discust for the super rich I'm against taxing on income or investments that haven't even been earned or redeemed no matter how rich anyone is. It's just not fair to anyone.
This unrealized gains thing won't hurt the super rich much of at all, but it will certainly hurt small investors and small or individual sole proprietor businesses.
I hope Trump slashes that crap and flushed the entire idea in the toilet. If the government needs tax revenue how about a better economy with growth that benefits everyone.
Believe me when I say FEMA is slow walking the $750 emergency assistance. I applied a week ago. They aren't helping anyone at all. The Governor really dropped the ball. It is 100% demoralization psychological operation and an apparent land grab. The hate us.
Update: if you weren't evacuated they aren't doing a thing. Also a woman called into 570 WWNC because she visited the tent and said the 'line was full of Mexicans' . So they won't help with temporary assistance of any kind. So Kamala is a liar.
