Holy Father, I was right. There was nothing for me to say as I just was handed a letter which states my work contract is to end on June 30th. They also wanted me to sign another dubious letter which the administration advised me against. It would have turned this into a resignation and would cost me 3 months of eventual social compensation. I will meet someone from the Canton and eventually emit an official complaint which might give them the legal hassle they desserve. Meanwhile, some colleagues were really nice to me, some others are in shock and the client, my former company had to really strongly protest my eviction two days before an important project delivery occur, for which I had to be replaced at once. I don’t really care, they willingly make my elderly self face difficult times at a time young flesh is so much cheaper and available… and they were smiling and jiggling whilst giving me their papers. I told yesterday I praise You for whatever would happen, I still firmly stand that way. You put me to test at a time I was needing it. Salvador was then sent by his superiors to serve as the cook, designated beggar and porter at the friary at Tortosa. There Salvador soon acquired a reputation as a healer, and the friary became a destination for sick pilgrims. It was estimated by observers that the number of visitors to the friary numbered some 2,000 people per week. As a result, Salvador's superiors developed a suspicion of him which was to shadow him for the rest of his life, and they began moving him to different friaries: first Bellpuig, then Lleida, followed by the remote village of Horta de Sant Joan, the town with which he is most identified, residing there 1547–1559 in the Friary of Our Lady of the Angels. Salvador was eventually moved to the friary of Reus and again to Madrid, where he was visited by King Philip II of Spain, followed by yet another move to the friary in Barcelona. While residing there, in 1560 he was denounced to the Spanish Inquisition for the many miracles attributed to his intercession. After some investigations, they chose to take no action against him. In 1565 Salvador was assigned to the Friary of St. Mary of Jesus in Cagliari, on the island of Sardinia, then under the rule of Spain, where he continued to serve as the cook for the community. He also continued to have cures take place at his intercession. It was there that he died on 18 March 1567.

Holy Father, we spend sometime yesterday discussing Plan B&C with my wife. It doesn’t look like we are quite in peril if my new chief, who’s just fresh out of his probation period, decides I am not to keep my job. I believe in You and whatever direction that dreaded meeting will take, I know this will be a spiritual victory for me, even if the immediate outcome appears to be bleak. I just pray this meeting ends up to be honorable for both of us as otherwise I believe this would be shameful if either one of us would lose credibility. I pray the journey continues.

Holy Father, I believe there are two Truths in our world, one, Mathematics, is about logic and the other, Music, is about ethics. Both reflects the way the human brain functions depending on which hemisphere is involved. Literacy may be corrupt using perverted ideas or concepts as well as most visual arts may be: the word « pornography » comes to mind. Music, on the other hand, when taken fundamentally, cannot. There is no wrong or unethical melody or rythm. Of course, it may be soiled using specific timbers for its instruments, but basically, music itself is pure and genuine. Back in the middle age, some chords were considered as being inspired by Satan but it was due to some Philistine ignorami whose influence, by chance, got erased by the time. Today, we have music and we have charts. Charts imitate music but their purpose is not about the elevation of the soul, but rather about its corruption for the sake of money making. Beethoven once said « Music as the power to project its composer’s then mindset into its listeners minds. » If Music doesn’t speak to you, then it might be something else. I praise You for this realisation.

Attala or Atala (died 622) was a disciple of Columbanus and his successor as abbot of Bobbio from 615. Attala was originally from Burgundy, and first became a monk at the abbey of Lérins. Displeased with the loose discipline prevailing there, he instead entered the abbey of Luxeuil, which had just been founded by Columbanus. When the latter was expelled from Luxeuil by King Theuderic II, Attala would have succeeded him as abbot, but preferred to follow him into exile. They settled on the banks of the river Trebbia, a little northeast of Genoa, where they together founded Bobbio. After the Columbanus' death in 615, Attala succeeded him as abbot. He and his monks suffered many hardships at the hands of King Arioald, who was an Arian and not a Catholic. As abbot, Attala insisted on strict discipline and when a large number of his monks rebelled, declaring his discipline too rigorous, he permitted them to leave the monastery. On August 15, 1425, the feast of the Assumption of Mary, she founded the Olivetan Oblates of Mary, a confraternity of pious women, under the authority of the Olivetan monks of the Abbey of Santa Maria Nova in Rome but neither cloistered nor bound by formal vows, so they could follow her pattern of combining a life of prayer with answering the needs of their society. In March 1433, she founded a monastery at Tor de' Specchi, near the Campidoglio, to allow for a common life by those members of the confraternity who felt so-called. This monastery remains the only house of the Institute. That July 4, they received the approval of Pope Eugene IV as a religious congregation of oblates with private religious vows. The community later became known simply as the Oblates of St. Frances of Rome. Frances herself remained in her own home, nursing her husband for the last seven years of his life from wounds he had received in battle. When he died in 1436, she moved into the monastery and became the superior. She died in 1440 and was buried in Santa Maria Nova.

Holy Father, my professional situation is crossing a tumultuous path at the moment even though I yet was not materially harmed. This opened me to check around until I found out that the most proficient of my former colleagues who, alongside me, were outsourced to the current company also were either gone or planning to for similar reasons. Holy Father, I think my new employer is trying to convince me to quit so he can pay a younger hire with just a fraction of my salary. Holy Father, today ends the last weekend before Lent. 40 days of fasting begin this wednesday and end on Easter day. This is not about starving, this is about resetting our bodies for the Spring and also our spirits: we have to get our will back to acceptable levels after indulging during the Winter. You will know every effort we actually make and, I pray, bless us with knowing when we intend to cheat. « Just this one time », we would argue, yes, once, maybe because we have an opportunity to share something special with someone special we don’t meet often. But then, it becomes twice, thrice, and all of a sudden, Lent is just a past concept. I won’t just let that happen. I pray I gloriously get through these days of frugality.

Holy Father, my excellent friend, LQdy Mary, is anxious about her son’s health, he’s got an infected throat which makes it really painful for him to swallow. He lost 5 pounds last week and already weights below the norm. I pray he doesn’t lose hope as You send him the force he needs to get through this ordeal. I also pray Mary remains as serene as we always loved her to be and keeps inspiring us with her beautiful Faith.

Romanus of Condat (also known in English as Saint Roman; French: Romain de Condat or Romain du Jura) (c. 390 – c. 463) is a saint of the fifth century. At the age of thirty five, he decided to live as a hermit in the area of Condat. His younger brother Lupicinus followed him there. They became leaders of a community of monks that included Eugendus. Romanus and Lupicinus founded several monasteries. These included Condat Abbey, which was the nucleus of the later town of Saint-Claude, Jura), Lauconne (later Saint-Lupicin, as Lupicinus was buried there), La Balme (Beaume) (later Saint-Romain-de-Roche), where Romanus was buried, and Romainmôtier (Romanum monasterium), now in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. Romanus was ordained a priest by Hilary of Arles in 444.

Holy Father, I am taking a day off tomorrow to handle some home business abroad. I pray I make it safely there and I still manage to enjoy the time I will spend, also mending the relationships a long leave strained. In the meantime, I pray the Renaissance we experience keeps us thriving and makes all of our lives better and maybe also back to where they always should have been.
