Well here is a surprise! Wonder if United will back off now. JUST IN: Southwest Airlines, American Airlines, and Delta Air Lines will NOT REQUIRE employees to get vaccinated, breaking with United Airlines' mandate that workers get vaccinated by October 25th or face getting fired. by MuckeyDuck

This is a bigger win for those airlines more than anything and a huge PR move. Right now it's hard for companies to find workers. Literally every business is struggling to find workers and this will ensure these companies get a swell of workers who abandon United and other airlines who follow.
