So why on earth would they be impeaching a man who has 13 days left, especially with such obvious haste and fear?
Because for 13 days he's got the legal reins of the military and and can still hurt them.
They're terrified. He's not done.

Yup it doesn't add up.
They have control of big tech, media, etc. Why are they so defensive?
Article I, Section 3 of the United States Constitution, ”Judgment in cases of impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the United States.”
So are they trying to claim they want to impeach him so that he cannot run in 2024?
Tenuous "Occam's razor" reason.
Likely they are worried that he might do something "unhinged" in the remaining weeks of his first term.
Yeah, that is the official claim I think. What doesn't make sense to me is the ultimatum is "resign or we will impeach". Obviously he's not going to resign, but if this was really about 2024, then that option doesn't make sense.
Seems like they have no idea what his next move is, and they're trying to look like they are in a position of power, and taking a long shot at maybe forcing that move.
