Same, security pro (IT) turned crypto scalper, Mullvad is solid, Wireguard is great on the go and is lower overhead (lower latency too) plus their crypto payment support and their transparent auditing process, A++++
I haven't disconnected Nord in weeks now. I'm sure Big Tech knows all they need about me at this point, nothing I can do about it now. Either way, stay on VPN and don't bother coming off.
Nord VPN is heavily compromised and agencies connect direct to their servers and monitor all traffic from the real IP addresses. Google it. They have had multiple breaches. ANd ask youself why is Nord so heavily pushed and advertised? Remember Protonvpn, Protonmail and Protondrive are all based in switzerland and fall under Swiss privacy laws which are similar to the old banking laws they used to have. They store everything in zero knowledge which means they do not have copies of your keys and therefore are unable to give them to anyone. In the event a foreign power or entity attempts to subpoena your data through them, they must go through swiss legal system and only the High court of Switzerland can actually order the subpoena and this can only be done if there is a direct breach of swiss law. And in the unlikely event that does happen, the only thing Proton will have to hand over is your encrypted data with no keys so they have fuck all chance of getting into it. Despite popular belief, As long as you have a secure password, it is basically impossible to break AES encryption.
Ideally, you want a VPN that doesn't log traffic/DNS requests AND doesn't turn in any logging to Law Enforcement Agencies. The most popular ones being hawked by "conservative media", Express and Nord come to mind, are not VPNs I would personally pick. I get the appeal, but cheap is not always good in this case.
Personally, I think I'm going to go with the whole Proton suite, getting their email/VPN package. I've been researching "alternate" email providers to get away from goog/M$, but even going with Proton (highly regarded email service), you're still going to run into problems with financial institutions not accepting their email service because it's associated with "bad actors/criminal activity" - obviously bullshit.
Mullvad
As a security professional I can not agree with this more. The anonymous payment methods seal the deal.....mullvad all day every day.
Good to know, ty

ExpressVPN is a good one
Try Proton
What’s everyone’s thoughts on Tor?
I’ve heard it’s the hardest to track, but also that it may be a honeypot.
I use NORD, I think X22.report.com might have a code for it
Of I remember correctly nord was breached recently...?
Let's talk about internet security.

VPN is bullshit. At the end of the data the data travels into and out of your device. There is no stopping that fact, a disguise doesn’t change it.
ZorroVPN
Do NOT use a VPN you do not pay for
I like Mullvad. It doesn't require any information to create an account and lets you pay in bitcoin. Generates an account number and you add airtime
