Question: what is the difference between telegram and signal? I do know that signal is for secure texting, but lost on all the techy details. Would you recommend it for personal cellphone use?
Signal is a secure text messaging and voice/phone app for cell phones. I have been using it for a while. It is only secure if the other party also uses it.
Telegram as far as I can tell is an app more like that of twitter. Can post videos and text/images and is more interactive than signal. They are pretty different actually.
I've been using Signal for years, too. Oddly, this weekend a few coworkers suddenly installed it and I got notified that they're using it. Makes me have some hope for them (I contract for a very liberal organization!).
For telegram--I'll be damned if I can find anyone on it. I saw Roger Stone was supposed to be over there, but when I searched for him, all I found were imposters. So now I have telegram with absolutely no one to follow and know no one on it.
I’m a little sus of signal because of its connections to twitter and the fact the BLM people were using it. I wonder if anyone more familiar with signal can shed some light on whether its safe or not.
So Signal is always encrypted messaging whereas Telegram has the encrypted option. In terms of encrypted messaging, to me, both are fine. I hear better things about Signal more but that could just be because of popularity.
The thing that sets Telegram a part is that it is really good for groups. If you create a group channel you can have either 200 or 2,000 members (I can’t fully remember right now). Also, Telegram is good for metadata tagging too. So you can add hashtags to your messages and then search for those tags later on. I use it to archive all of my findings that I want to share with others.
So it’s really up to you at this point. Just remember by default Signal is secure whereas in Telegram you have to start a secure chat. Oh, and for whatever reason I don’t think the secure chat function is available on Telegram’s PC app whereas Signal’s is because it’s secure by default.

Search: Conservatives on Telegram
They have a list of accounts to follow.
Do you use the app or just log in from a browser?
I mean there are groups people form, I'm in a Q group with over a thousand people.
Thanks, I'll try to find that.

This is good info, I appreciate you taking the time to share with me.
Telegram. I have both on my phone. But I do not like that Signal shows your telephone number to users in the group.
