So I was messing around with the plane site and saw this callsign and thought it was unusual -- it's just X.
Couldn't find a way to isolate it to show just this one to send a line, but it left from just out side DC (near Alexandria) and is heading to POPE ARMY AIRFIELD near Fort Bragg.
It looks like the OTIS flight also up has been circling that field for a while and the N3271X flight is literally doing tight circles near the base as well.
Anything unusual or just nothing -- I am new to the whole plane thing.
EDIT: looks like X took off from Andrews AFB, but didn't turn on transponder right away?
That's a c130 too, not the usual c17
This is a job for SuperMan...I mean Monkeywerx!
Ehh, training exercise over a base?
maybe for N3271X, but X left from outside DC and it looks like it is currently landing
Got yah, i glanced at it while I was working. Loooping plane could have been holding position for the other one to come into formation.
It's crazy too, I kept looking and the OTIS48 flight there was circling the Pope Airfield and as soon as X landed, it turned south. Checked that path and it left Wilmington (NC) International and just landed back there... just flew up to circle over Ft. Bragg and went right back as soon as X hit the ground?
Got my curiosity up -- you know what they say about coincidences...
Oh boyyyy o_O thanks for the details!
You do not see this a lot but it does happen. Sometimes multiple planes with the callsign X.
I don't know shit about planes but just the letter X is a pretty sus callsign to me
This is a fuel tanker,. Anything with an aircraft type that starts with k as in kc-130 is a fuel refueling tanker
I tend to get caught up in the callsigns sometimes. Guilty as charged. Ive seen X before, but definitely not a regular occurrence. Last night I was chuckling at a couple in particular. RATS, FANG. Any meaning? No clue, but it made me smile for a second which I appreciated.

I tried refreshing and it's gone now, so must have landed. What's unusual (at least to me) was that the N3271X flight is still circling, and as soon as X seemed to land, OTIS48 stopped circling and headed south -- just about to fly over Wilmington NC.
I'm new to the plane tracking (a few days) so didn't know if this was out of the ordinary or not.
Any q drops talk about this?
Here's the air there at about 1145 EST: https://ibb.co/ypYHHXh
You can see the circles by N3271X and OTIS fell off.
I have followed on and off for a few months and haven't seen any single letter call signs.
