I thought of darkness as referring to hopelessness, terror, or “dark times” right before illumination or enlightenment. Or maybe maneuvers under cover of darkness. But blackouts probably make more sense.

What if countries don't refer solely to the country, but to assets associated with the country?
I.E Someone could be nicknamed "Israel". Someone "Pakistan" etc - but double meanings in conjunction to that?

Where did you hear that about the Chinese troops? I am in Canada and I know our PM is corrupt as hell and has been in bed with China but I haven’t heard there are troops here. If true that is scary af.

Not sure if the US will have massive blackouts. However I would prepare for such an event.
