I'll take this as a lesson to step back and take some time to learn from others before advertising my own attempt at taking a crack at this. I think us newbies are just so excited to have arrived here in the first place that we're a little trigger-happy in wanting to contribute without thinking about how we might be hurting the cause by clogging up the channel with noise.
