If you watch the official coverage from this from the Vatican, he just turns around and goes back down the steps like normal.
I think that news camera had skipped some frames.
If the camera skipped a few frames, how did it show the pope @ 50% opacity and then show a black outline where he should be.
It could well be an angle based issue for the hologram.
This is something cameras will do to make skipped frames less noticeable.
It uses a blending algorithm from the last good frame to the current frame.
ok, thanks - didn't know that.
would that also explain the black outline he saw at the end as well?
It could... that also seems to be just some dynamic contrasting.. also something camera's will do when focusing on something it detects is "dark".
Not trying to be a deboonker hehe. Just truly believe this one is a nothing burger.
Yeah that’s definitely possible, but with that black shadow and awkward movements too? Could it be that from this particular camera angle, it was able to catch the tech from the hologram at a bad angle?
The black shadow was likely someone behind him just helping him up and down the steps..
My question -- why did they have to switch angles to begin with?
Pope comes out on a straight shot, then the footage changes to a 3/4 side POV. It's like a 30 second clip. Why not just have 1 shot???
Link to original coverage you are speaking of please?

Timestamp: Approx 15minutes in.
Oh ok. Yeah the news station cut footage. Nothing to see here.
From this camera footage you can also tell the black thing behind the pope is a person helping him up the steps.
