I'm sure there could be bunkers there but it also has strategic importance to America or even Britain.

If the artic circle is melting there is a new ocean forming north of Canada and Russia. It's a smart plan to control the sea gates.

Britain's empire was largely due to policing and controlling sea lanes.

Watched a doc a while back on project iceworm. The abandoned facilities very much still exist, all be it in disrepair.
