A) From what I gather, ammo is NOT completely & totally sold out ALL across the country. That's not quite accurate.
Based on reports from actual frens on the ground, there are lots of mid-sized and small towns across the US that do in fact have plenty of ammo in stock. The ammo shortages are mostly in larger & major cities and more urban areas. Again, this is based on first-hand reports from gun forums I'm active on.
B) The fact is, people really have been panicking and buying THAT much ammo and THAT many guns. I don't have the numbers handy, but it's almost comical; almost every year or couple years since 2008 (hussein), the records on gun & ammo sales keep getting broken.
Like there were record gun sales in 2008 because everyone was scared of what husein would do to guns, then again in 2012 because he got re-installed, then again in 2016 because the threat of Hillary.
THEN because of COVID, people really went ape shit and started buying anything & everything guns & ammo. That set a new record.
THEN you throw in the BLM riots from the "summer of love" and yeah; not hard at all to understand why people are going crazy buying guns & ammo like the world is ending. So again; this summer, MORE gun & ammo sales records were AGAIN broken.
We can get a rough idea of the numbers involved based on the number of FBI NICS checks run.
Reminder however, that;
You can purchase multiple guns using ONE NICS check.
NICS checks are not usually run in free states for Private Party Transfers. (PPT)
AND it's a fact that a very significant portion of all these gun buyers, are first time buyers. So it's not just gun nuts like me buying their 30th gun; substantial numbers of people have bought their very first gun during all this.
That is fantastic news, because we desperately need more wide awake, armed patriots!!!
I'm in South Carolina, where a significant chunk of the population already owns what they need, and the ammo shortages are hitting hard. It is extremely weird, especially because the physical PSA stores are having a hard time keeping stock of ARs and their parts, and our state manufactures them.
So that doesn't account for all of it to me. It's like the toilet paper shortages, I am almost certain by observation that they are artificial.
Totally agree on all points. Ammo shortages are real, and not because they are not being produced or the military is "putting it all in underground bunkers". The CEO of Remington just addressed this. https://youtu.be/KIgvoJKovIg
A gun dealer friend of mine in California said he wished he had a dollar for every one of the newbie buyers who said "What do you mean I have to wait ten days to get it?!?"
Indiana here. Shortage here to, if you can find it.
Problem is, when you have 2-4 million new gun owners in a year, they each buy lets say 2 boxes of ammo, that is a demand increase of 200-400 million more rounds of ammo in what a year?
Major gun guy here.

Tennessee here. Ammo is available but in short supply. Not cheap either.
