The cross was necessary. Jesus actually got annoyed with Peter when Peter said No, it shouldn't happen. Jesus knew what had to happen and He willingly complied. I wish He'd never had to suffer that way, but He did and He did so willingly because He loves us that much.
@Queso - God is all powerful but he has to allow satan to have freedom for the Plan to play out. It's to allow as many people as possible to believe in Him of their own freewill rather than just 'forcing' them to. Philosophy can only be used for the argument up to a point because 'it requires a leap of faith'. Have you ever read something of CS Lewis - a case for Christ or screwtapes? As an atheist before he discusses it kinda from a philosopher's pov
I know people have their opinions on the devil. I personally don't think the devil iswhat people say he is.
I would say Satan works for God, a role assigned to him.
I would never say God is unable to defeat this 'Satan' figure or he's just resting readying himself for the big fight.
It goes against my concept of what God is omnipresent, omnipotent and infallible.
Trying to try figure out the power levels of God and devil is retardy to say the least.
Using a finite brain and intelligence to encapsulate infinity. Like trying to fit the entire earth inside a lunch box. It's impossible.
I'm not afraid of the devil, the real evil manifests in the hearts of men.

Amen
can't argue....I can't even imagine how the disiples felt when that happened...well I can get close.
Its a valid comparison and fair I will give him 3 days FOR YOU. not FOR HIM.
Dead. Three days. Still crushed Satan n back to do it again.

There are many Christians who come to believe who were raised in atheist families..
