I recognize them as Revolutionary War-era uniforms but I don’t know if they represent anything else.
I meant more the gesture/posture of the guy with the spear, is that normal?
He doffed his hat and extended it in salute. The spear is held out as part of that.
Is that normal? I cant find anything that shows that is a normal way to salute in the US military.
I’m not entirely sure if it’s normal or not as I’m not familiar enough with late 18th century military etiquette or protocol.

Best I can find
Excellent, thank you. Reading through the article and the little I know of the customs of the time, there were expected behavioral norms. Gentlemanly, cordial, etc. I saw nothing mentioned about a spear but “... and pull off his hat or cap with his right hand letting it down the length of his arm in a graceful easy posture” caught my eye. In this case, left hand since he held the spear in his right.
Yeah that makes sense, it just strikes me as somewhat of a defiant stance.
Also in the next shot of these soldiers, a number of them are no longer wearing hats and the band behind them are seen to walk over hats on the ground.
Likely because of the wind, but I would have thought these hats would be fitted pretty well to avoid such a mishap?
Holy fuck. It looks like an army of Joe Bidens!
17?
It means Joe Xiden is a douche bag, you can see it in the Guide-On's face.
