I had 2 updates forced on my phone yesterday... I ignored them for 24 hours and then they installed automatically, my phone froze so I couldn't even turn on airplane mode to stop them.
Emergency Alert settings didn't change but my phone has run like crap since then, I get error messages on a lot of apps, everything is slow. I don't know what they did but it sucks.
My android would constantly change my "reject private number calls" all the fucking time for a few years.
I would find out I had missed several private number calls when going through my call history days/weeks later.
Mines still on - pixel 3 phone. However, I've noticed my VPN keeps getting turned off over night. I have no settings on my phone or the VPN app that would allow for that. It's been happening all this last week.
Well, on my phone there is a section called 'Wireless Emergency Alerts' and the 'Allow Alerts' slider at the top was OFF and everything below it (Amber alerts, Extreme threats, Public safety messages, State and local tests, etc.) were all off.
All I was just saying there was No Alerts in regards to the Presidential Address to the Nation. As for why yours was off there's two possibilities, One operator mistake or an update reset your phone. The WEA is all part of the system and needs to be enable on your phone for you local Alerts, from my understanding you can only disable local Alerts, but not a Presidential alert in which FEMA has control of and can not be over ridden. It was going around that Apple was doing an update to disable the the National alert system on iPhone not sure if that is even possible.
Yeah, I understand. I mainly posted this because I know a week or so back there were rumors that iPhone updates were disabling the EAS and I figured with all the GoogleAppleFacebookTwitter happenings that Google might to the same with Android.
Android here, mine was on and I updated just yesterday. No issues with apps either. This is nothing, but you should definitely make sure it's on so you don't miss out.

iphone?
Android
i agree
I found out using signal in newer Android phones caused trouble for those with newer versions of Android as EBS goes through the messaging system.
Ive been noticing the apps on my phone deleting or moving themselves lately.

There was No EAS which is the (Emergence Alerts System.) It's a National system superseding the EBS.

mine is set up to be the same as my ringer so if mine is on vibrate it vibrates and silent mode etc

Settings -> Apps & Notifications -> Advanced -> Wireless Emergency Alerts
At this point, I'm pretty sure the EBS was disinformation
Just checked mine are still turned on
Mine is subdued so I can't turn on the presidential alerts wtf?? Never mind its locked to the on position.
Just made sure mine was enabled and it was. I love how I can't turn off presidental alerts. Wish Trump would've used it.
It isn't an update you'd be alerted about. It was "pushed" behind the scenes. Good idea to check anyway.
Mine was left on but changdd to "silent", with no option to choose anything else
I have a Pixel 3a XL and it was under Settings -> Apps & Notifications -> Advanced -> Wireless Emergency Alerts
Every android phone should have an area under Settings to turn them on or off.
On android: go to the stock text message app
*3 dots
*emergency alert settings
*Emergency alerts
*Presidential alerts (mine says it can not be turned off)
FEMA or Military will send the EAS texts out, Military is in power.
