Take the WWW out of your pocket, that for me was the first step..
Stop it eating into your life
Good luck, Its the most liberating thing you can do right now...
Yeh of course, but you know, make time in your day for it, not the other way round, its serious shit but so is your day to day life...
Honestly, ive had friends offer me free smartphones they have in the drawer at home because they feel sorry for me lol, they cant understand Its by choice... I was a Gadget man all my life, but backwards is the way forwards now brother ;)
Fun fact, phones w/o SIM cards can still dial 911. As long as that radio is in your phone it can dial out and some one else can probably dial in.
Also, that "phone your using as a camera" still is storing metric data (are you moving, how fast your moving, if GPS is on where your moving) as you walk around doing your daily life activities. Even if you don't ever use it to connect to the internet via WiFI or via WWAN (ie4g/5g cell radio) it is still saving that data on the phone. That is what it was designed to do. in the EULA "record data to improve usability" is a friendly way of saying "spy on you".
So here are my tips: Consider buying a small digital camera or two (one for the glove box). Consider switching to a feature phone(sometimes refered to as a dumb phone) instead of a smart phone.
Pinephone ($150) has switches that physically disconnect the modem, wifi, mic, cameras. It runs on linux so no google, microsoft, or apple stealing all your metadata.
No-one actually needs the internet in their pocket...
They just think of reasons why they do need it, like an alcoholic does with drink.
I know ive been there.
Not owned a smartphone coming up 10 years.
Run my own business, fairly succesfully for last 5 years never having owned one of the damn things.
Old skool Call/TXT is all you need from a phone.
I have to fire up laptop or tablet to access WWW which cuts down my user time dramatically. .
Ive watched the smartphone addiction grow, even babies in pushchairs love a smart device... You wouldnt notice if you were seduced yourself, but i have... So many times ive heard the phrase " He's only 2 and he's better on that than i am" from Proud mams or Nans....Make a clean break,IDGAF if they know where i live i expect it, but i dont want the ability to be tracked 24/7 in any depth like a smartphone can do. Even my dumphone can track i know, not at the sophistication of the latest apple device

Linux based (no microsoft/google/apple surveillance)
Developed by people against the creeping fingers of big tech

Well, Twitter saved 70,000 of us from doxing.
Trump already owns big tech so let's stay sane.
