Yes.
I’ve worked as an ATCO for 20+ years, 4+ as an oceanic controller. I’ve never had a/c disappearing from ADS without the pilot switching off the transponder. I work in EU though, and the satellite reception here might be better. But to lose sat connection has never happened for me in the recent years.
As far as I'm aware, the ADSB exchange relies on groups of users having an antenna and running a script to share the information and feed that information out, it may just have had no coverage in that area to adsbexchange?
That’s makes sense. ANSPs will get their ADS-data from the satellites, but this is probably data gathered from non official private antennas, with non optimal coverage. I stand corrected.
Yes I understand how you guys get it as controllers, and it's much the same principle up to satellites from the aircraft then down to the ground but it's then that it changes on to this exchange and fed outwards. The A/C will still be squawking just not seeing it with local coverage. Although it is pretty good.
