Sadly the progressive left will appreciate that. And many others are easily brainwashed into believing that somehow Americans paying higher gas prices to foreign countries is actually good for them.
Honestly, my disappointment isn't as much in the Dem politicians who I expect will do the wrong thing 100% of the time. Instead my disappointment lies with the gullibility of the clueless American people that put up with it.
I read where they want to consider a tax by the mile road usage with an electronic system similar to what is used on toll roads to fund transport infrastructure.
You think the tollway is funded by tolls? It's not. Private bonds are sold to the inner circle. My father worked for the DOT for 40 yrs and knew. Additionally, the initial cost of all tollways is paid for by local tax dollars. Toll monies collected far exceed repair and maintenance costs. State money (taxes) also goes to plowing, salt etc otherwise the DOT would not have trucks on the private tollway.
Yeah in Illinois the tollway was supposed to be paid off in 30 years. "Toll Free in '73" was the slogan. Here we are in 2021 and the tolls are still here. There is just no excuse for all of these taxes and fees anymore.
355 was paid for by taxes first and promised to be $0.20 when opened and toll-free after a couple years "once paid for". The day it opened it was $0.50 and 25 years later the toll is still charged.

Thanks. Looks like he's considering that tax by the mile as a replacement for gas tax. Guess they want those electric car drivers to start paying up. Oh well!
Everything the Dems do is a plot to steal from us, so this is to be expected. Only those who are actually on our side try NOT to rob us.
1st cut the Keystone pipeline = lose 75,000 jobs
2nd raise fuel tax
Those two moves will make gas and heating fuel skyrocket to like $5 a gallon or more.
It's exactly how they did it in China too. They freeze and starve you out.

In WA state, we pay around .65 cents per gallon for state tax. Oh, and everyone that has an electric car, they get to pay $100 more a year for their license tabs. Isn’t that lovely.
