So, does anyone have video of the old Guard marines dropping their hats or just video after the fact? I don't see the issue with the commander removing his hat and dropping the point of the lance, seems that is a point of respect to the presidency not an insult, I've read that was how they did it in the "Olden days of yore". I would like to avoid Grasping at Straws and go with REAL proof of military in charge.

A Vet posted on these boards that it is a taunt to the enemy, they remove their hat to show they are not a women. It is not a mark of respect.
What little I looked into this, I came across how this came from the custom at the time for a man to remove his hat and slightly bow in the presence of a women when first meeting her or when at formal engagements.
This basically transferred to the military in the tradition of calling the enemy a bunch of women.
Either way, what little research I did basically shows it as not only a sign of disrespect, but an actual taunt to the enemy.
Go back and watch the Trump inauguration and you see the RG Captain lower his lance, and then turn and salute the President - not remove his cap.
Thanks, so the Capt of the RG definitely insulted Biden by removing his hat. and I guess some of the others took their off even though I can't find any shots of it.
