All I seem to hear in the UK is that someone died after they induced them into a coma, but I've seen messages from those people from just before this was done and they seemed really coherent.

Why are they being put into comas?

Because you can't cough if you are in a coma and they can damage your lungs with a ventilator. It thins the herd.
