It's called a discussion, someone presents an hypothesis and then it is challenged, the end result should be the truth.

Unless you're suggesting we should all turn off our brains and accept everything at face value? is that how Q operated? did they go like "Hey guys!! here's a fact for you! accept it! don't question it!!"? or did they always presented a bunch of questions to foster reflection and CRITICAL thinking?
