I have a question about silver coinage-I hold war nickles, dimes, a few quarters, half dollars and Morgans and peace dollars along with bullion rounds; with the currency conversion, what will the commercial value be?? I am guessing the future actual spot price times the weight % of actual silver in the coins...
Most pre-1965 dimes and quarters, as well as most pre-1971 half dollars are only worth their silver content. 1916D and 1921 mercury dimes are worth more. 1932D and 1932S quarters are worth more. 1916, 1921, and 1938D half dollars are worth more. 1921 and 1928 peace dollars are worth more. CC and mid-1890s Morgan silver dollars are worth more, but there are other Morgans that can be worth more(especially if uncirculated), so double-check before selling them. War nickels will only ever be worth the silver, unless uncirculated. Never clean or polish any of your coins. Feel free to message me if you need more information on what you have.
I am well aware of numismatic value, but I am curious if they will have actual purchasing power AS currency. TBS, if not, then when the gold backed $$ are instituted, then I will be happy to exchange them for gold dollar bills and use the the bullion I have for serious purchases/barter, but definitely NOT exchanging them for fiat paper. Thank you for your detailed answer!!
I am not considering selling any , but rather if I would be able to use the silver currency to purchase things with.. a whole new country to spend it in.. :)
So you don’t think it’s currently a good time to invest in silver, what about in the future?
Is gold worth investing?
I’ve done stock trading but never physical precious metals.
Stack silver. When the gold silver ratio is good for you, move some silver into gold.
In other words, you will have to think further than just one form of money making.
