Apologize for the late comment here but had dinner with some friends last night, one of which is a police detective. This subject happened to come up and here is what her thoughts were on the situation:

She believes Nancy is most likely under indictment yet currently free (on bail or awaiting trail) and under watch.

She also believes they are US Marshals. I told her I thought they were Capitol Police detectives. She replied that it would only be Capital Police if she was indicted for a local (DC Area) crime, as that is their jurisdiction where US Marshals would be enforcing Federal Law.

She also noted the strange coincidence that when Nancy Pelosi was salivating to get at her mortal enemy (DJT) with another illegal impeachment, she passed of her duties to other House members. While not proof, she said, she did say this was indicative of her most likely being under indictment since law forbids her to lead the House floor while under indictment.

So, being devil's advocate, I brought up she could also be under protective detail. She then said it is obvious she is not. Standard protective detail would have both male and females in the group.

She said there are two reasons protective detail would be mixed genders. One is if some guy gave her trouble and needed to be arrested, and patted down, they would make sure the males in the group did that so their wouldn't be legal jeopardy with a female officer doing this with a male. Secondly, she also said if some large male decided to be a serious threat to the Speaker, they would want an equally large male to deal with the threat.

Then she explained to me that this is the dead give away she is most likely under indictment and under escort - five female officers escorting her. This is done so they can go EVERYWHERE with her including the bathroom.

So, take this for what is is worth. I am just giving you the perspective of a friend who has been a police detective for 21 years.
