They overplayed their hand and tried to short the stock when the mass consensus of retail traders (You and I) were betting on it going up due to our sheer numbers.
The idea is, since GME (and others) have been shorted by institutions (They will have to cover these shorts eventually) the retail investors must keep buying up shares. Once these institutions have run out of time and start buying up shares to cover their loses, the stock will continue to Sky Rocket. They are throwing everything they have at us, but as long as we are strong....we win.
I have a WeBull account and can still purchase, even at a limit. you can purchase via a "Loop Hole" if the stock has been limited by your broker by buying an option (Warning: this means you are buying at least 100 shares)
