I love that other people have had good experiences with it. I smoked/vaped some liquid weed cartridges. Not very much. Maybe 2 deep inhales and a few lighter ones. Nothing crazy. My sister probably had twice as much. Ten minutes later, it hit me like a train. My brain felt mostly normal. Just slightly impaired, but I still could think normally. My body was another story. It felt like it attacked my nervous system and I couldn't control my body. If someone said something funny I would start to laugh and I was scared that I wouldn't be able to stop laughing. I tried to speak, but my mouth wouldn't say what my mind wanted it to say. It's hard to explain. It was just so unpleasant. I also had like twitchy convulsions in my arms and legs. Ugh. It was awful. I thought I would be high forever. Ten minutes felt like an eternity.
I also broke out in hives later that night, so I wonder if I'm allergic to it.
Could very well be or at least allergic to a specific terpine in it. My girlfriend can't stand it because she's allergic to Myrcene, which is a dominant terpine in most indica strains. Perhaps if you tried a sativa that wouldn't happen. Leafly.com has awesome educational materials concerning terpines.
That said, most oil carts (like you had) are extremely potent for a novice user. They usually bag between 71-95% THC.
I don't know what the strain was. It was my sister and brother-in-laws. My sister was totally fine. Just relaxed. It took me an hour until it had worn off enough to get me to that relaxed state. I will say I ate some tomatoes and a sweet and sour sucker and I get the whole munchie thing. It was like I'd never tasted food before. That part was very cool, but then I got all itchy and had hives all over my back, so overall a crappy experience lol
I just didn't like feeling like I couldn't control my body. I felt so panicked. I compare it to having sleep paralysis, but less extreme. You're aware of what's going on, but you have no control over your body and you can't communicate because your mouth won't say what your brain is telling it to say. Ugh.
My husband didn't try it with me that time. I can't remember why. But, over Christmas break this year, someone gave him half an edible. He started out feeling okay. Just really relaxed and he said his brain felt more focused lol. Then all of a sudden he got super nauseous and almost threw up. He started sweating and felt sick. He's allergic to nitric oxide (laughing gas) and he had almost the exact same reaction. I looked it up and apparently extreme nausea is a possible side effect of marijuana for some people?
