I am familiar in passing of this tech. I would think that it would be very passable at first glance. Would the tech be a 'layered' in rudimentary way such as PDF file?

AI can create avatars that look like somebody (a picture) and you and I can not tell on the face of it. Or even care to dig deep. The headline scan for news is what is what a lot of people do. I am certainly guilty of doing "the scan". I have since learned that the 'journalists' do tell the truth, in a sentence at near bottom. The headline is what leads the rumors that they want.

I avoid this lately by listening to news from Japan, India. Their international news touches the USA and I get a better well rounded view than what's being offered in USA--which is simply bird cage liner.
