Good morning GA fam, we have an important update from the Communities team below.
The biggest takeaway is customizable home pages on the https://communities.win/c/home website. We highly encourage participation in these new wins since it will help everyone move away from reliance on legacy web forums.
Per Shadowman3001:
NEW COMMUNITIES!
Several weeks ago, Win released a small batch of apolitical communities, as part of its effort to become a true competitor in social media. Today, we are adding two of the most highly requested communities:
c/guns because you really ought to have a few (dozen)
c/christianity because God knows we need it (get it?)
You might say we're clinging to our guns and bibles
NEW FEATURES!
We recently renamed the 'All' feed to 'Front', because its name was a lie, as it only included posts from apolitical communities. We've added a new 'All' feed, which lives up to its name by including all posts from all communities.
COMMUNITY SUBSCRIPTIONS!
Most importantly, we have also released a 'Home' feed to Win!
The Home feed only shows posts from communities which you're subscribed to. By default, users are subscribed to the first batch of apolitical communities. You can now subscribe to communities from the front page and the home feed, by clicking the small "+" or "-" circle next to the name of the community the post is from. New methods of subscribing will be added in the near future, such as on the sidebar.
A note about c/all and the new Home feed. Understandably, this is by far the most active community, and we currently don't "push" other communities into feeds, so until our other communities grow, if you include TheDonald in your subscriptions it will likely dominate your custom feed.
I'd like to give a personal shoutout to my favorite non-TheDonald community, c/diy!
DONATIONS <Edited for GA>
If you are interested in donations and learning about supporting communities, please view the original post: https://patriots.win/p/12hR2wwXiu/new-features-new-communities-youc/
As of now, our GA mod team is not involved in the donation process and will not be promoting it on our Win. We fully support the communities and patriots team in this move, but since we do not have oversight of it we will not host their info on our Win. Doggos also explains this further in the stickied comment.
What happened to the +/- votes showing up on comments?
yes change it back please i dont like this new change
It's been fixed. Thanks for your patience.
thanks! I like it
That's awesome, thanks! Now do the Block button.
What's wrong with the block button?
It's a GA styling change.... I'm not in favor of it.
I'm looking into it now. Its a side affect of some custom user flair we were testing.
Sweet. First time I'm happy to see a bug. :)
Bugs in voting > reddit style voting
Reddit. There is a conspiracy that removing the +/- was to allow voting manipulation to go unnoticed.
That's what's up.
In conversation you get feedback. Without the +/- you are not allowing true feedback. The assumption would be that any points other than complete negatives are positive comments which we all know is not true.
U are so smart I love u guys
If they didnt matter then shills wouldn't try to mass upvote themselves/each other drowning out the negatives(if they were hidden) by real pedes. They already do it but not showing the negs makes it that much easier for them.
