I told the manager too. We have power of the purse and need to use it wherever and whenever we can.

Managers are not representative of the corporate structure and have no influence on inventory of items being ordered and stocked.
All you did was vent to someone that can't do anything about it and probably does not care about it.
these people act as the interface for these companies. you should absolutely toss your criticisms their way. ground level managers have more influence than you give them credit for...
that said, no need to be rude to these people. you can be harsh but polite.
person said store clerk, those folks most definitely do not give even the tiniest of shits who may or may not shop their ever again, store managers too if we're talking about the floor managers. The actual manager that runs the the location though, he might actually care if people stop going there.
Store managers can indeed ladder up complaints to regional managers. Although, the best and most efficient way to voice your complaint is emailing corporate directly. I work at the corporate office of a major retailer, so I’m speaking from experience.
