This isn't new, it was brought to my attention at least 3 weeks ago. My first thought was the peak of the cherry blossom event but that is much later in April/May.
The question I'd love to find an answer to is when they set the higher rates for that date. Also is it an normal annual practice?
Check the prices on the DC hotel site now, some of them are repeated. Same price for two different categories, I mean. The Q drops for those numbers are... relevant? hopium? something?
Hmmm. I was going to say that the real question at that point is "who is they", but there may be 2 alternative explanations.
People have already booked hotel rooms for that day, so the price is higher.
an algorithm is detecting increased searches for hotel rooms on that day, and has automatically set the price higher.
Otherwise, the price would have to be raised manually. Which means someone knew that march 4th was a happening time long ago, as this has been around for a while.
The alternative explanation is that a bunch of Q followers are booking hotels for an event that isn't going to happen (but they believe will happen), driving up the price.
Like everything else, March 4 will come and go without anything happening and people here will still go on with the delusion. Go back a few days to the posts about Mike Pompe's tweets and this was supposed to be BOOM week. Not much booming happening. Nothing is ever happening. As you can see by the mass exodus of traffic on this site, there are only a few delusional folks left.

Trump capitalizing, he’s a business man.

Then why isn't the price going up at other nearby hotels in response to this? Not everyone can afford to stay Trump's.

No Patriot would book at a Marriott (Mormon cult) or a Hilton (Satanist family) hotel.
