We-- americans-- became complacent as we trusted those in power. Term limits would have helped a lot.

Limits in money to be made as well. Median range earnings per the reps. Given area. That way if they want to earn more their median range earnings for their constituents would be the guide. Make sure the people get the earnings before the rep.
