Hello all,
My father is in the hospital in north FL due to post covid pneumonia. He feels fine, managed the covid and the fevers and all the symptoms at home, now just short of breath. Went to Hospital today, staff took X-ray and put him on oxygen. Also giving him steroids as the antibiotics didn’t work (viral pneumonia vs bacterial pneumonia)
We are obviously more worried about the fact that the hospitals are a for profit entity and possibly value the $60,000 covid death more than my fathers life. Although it is north Florida, which is mostly republicans...
As a precaution, and other than calling 24/7, what should we be doing to make sure the hospital is not playing around with my fathers life?
What have you (person in this situation) done when your loved one was in the hospital related to covid?
Prayers welcome
P.S. the good news is that he wasn’t admitted as a covid symptom patient rather it’s the pneumonia for the reason for being admitted... obviously due to Covid
Most hospitals have your father's best interest at heart. If he's diagnosed as COVID each procedure or item that is billed will be reimbursed more to the hospital. Believe it or not he's worth more alive.
The problem with COVID is that it may not kill you but it can really jack you up. I've seen people have lung scarring and younger healthy people still short of breath after having it months ago.
Your dad is out of the phase where ivermectin or Hydoxychloroquine would help. Steroids, oxygen for starters, convalescent plasma would be the next step.
Hopefully they'll give him good care and he'll do well. Prayers
Thank you. His covid symptoms are virtually gone, just the pneumonia remaining. Steroids and oxygen is what he’s taking at the moment
Praying for your dad. ??
Prayers for your dad. I have a friend for whom Covid was just like a bad cold and she recovered quickly, but she got the post-c pneumonia and was a pain.
