They are claiming that they need 2/3 in the Senate to convict and remove from office, but only 50% + 1 to disqualify from future office.
What if they get around 55%?
The counter-argument will be that 50% + 1 was not enough -- still need 2/3. In fact, that point was brought up today.
It will just be another question left unanswered.
I'm under the impression that IF they get the 2/3 to convict then a separate vote for never holding office again is taken, and for that they only need a simple majority....no conviction, no second vote... Source is Ted Cruz who stated this on Crowder's show Wednesday...
