That got me too. Surely the widely shared video footage of the "Insurrection", especially the barricades removed, the DC "Tour guides" showing the way, Jayden X stuff...... Is surely a better defence against the charge, than 100's of subjective sound bite examples of what the true intentions of "Fight like hell" were?
So much more powerful to show "IT WAS" planed and orchestrated by someone(s) else, and NOT my Base (other than a few gung ho caught up in the moment) - and here's footage of some of my base trying to STOP IT....
than the relatively much weaker defence of.. "Yeah, I was there, and said that, but That's not what I meant by it...", lots of people say that.... Many have said worse...
I hope there's a damn good reason it wasn't shown to the masses .... And there may well be, but we had The World watching, the stage was there....
I think he had made a solid point yesterday in that this was about whether POTUS INCITED an insurrection. Everything that unfolded had nothing to do with the incitement, which was the crux of the case. It became clear to me yesterday that the goal was to WIN and not get roped into the games they were trying to play. The house managers knew they were screwed on the incitement and were salivating at the possibility of them engaging on other aspects of the 6th/voter fraud. It really needed to stay focused on the incitement to get the acquittal. My opinion of course. I think people ARE waking up. Most people weren’t even watching this. We were of course but that’s because we are anxious for the GA and some big event in which the hammer gets dropped. POTUS won yesterday. That’s a win.
Agree!!! Keep it simple. Stay the course. Prove the point. Win.
Exactly! He pointed out to them the flaws in their charge as written. He kept it about facts and the law.
I think there (ridiculously) were enough Trump supporters there, that it is better to not even bring this up. I remember when they announced the capitol was being stormed and I went to TD.win and sure enough it was stickied and the people there were thrilled - at least from the top posts. The Alex Jone's faction of Trump supporters were being used to try and make something like this happen. Luckily, they had enough common sense to leave at Trump's request, but they still were caught up in it. I do think it was BLM and Antifa that provoked and planned everything, but some of Trump supporters went right along like sheep. Best to let the civil courts work out that part and not bring it up, as Trump is not responsible for his supporters acting irrationally.
Hang on a sec. This was the ENTIRE basis of the impeachment. They claimed that Trump WAS responsible for "his supporters acting irrationally."
The defense showed that saying "we're gonna fight like hell" is not a basis to conclude that anybody incited anything. That's why they played the video of so many Dems saying the same thing or worse.
But there was a huge opportunity to go further. Is it true that "his supporters acted irrationally?"
No.
First, many of the people who engaged in damage to property were linked to Antifa/BLM, and were not Trump supporters at all. This can be shown by the arrests that were made.
Second, protesting (even in the Capitol Building) is not irrational, when the protest is over Congress certifying an unlawful set of electors in multiple states. This can be shown by demonstrating election fraud.
As many are saying, the sheep are still asleep. Even those who did not watch could be shown "official" evidence from the impeachment trial.
But the defense rested instead.
Missed (or for some reason evaded) the golden opportunity.
Why?
Seems everyone here is running on hopium that "some day, something will happen."
That is not an argument for refusing to take the opportunity when it is presented.
