I understood the proposed bill didn't ban guns outright, it just introduces numerous requirements that most would fail to meet.
So basically you can have a gun if you are a sane devoted lefty and your ex-wife says it's ok. (paraphrasing a little)
Also no mag capacity over 10 rds, so most semi auto pistols and rifles.

Assault rifles covers a lot of rifles such as AR-15, M16, M4, AK47, AK74, SCAR17 etc.
Basically military style rifles.
You take any of those rifles against the military and youre a damn fool.

I don’t know about “most vets”. It I can say a lot of vets would turn on ANY government agency that tries to take away their God given right to bear arms. And would be particularly angry at any Guardsman or anyone else that betrayed their oath to the defense of The Constitution.
If you are a politician, trying to sic the military on citizens who are trying to exercise those rights protected by The Constitution, then you are one of those “enemies, foreign and domestic”.
