GRIDDY is a wholesale electricity service...i typically save a good bit of money using it. example in august 2020 100 degree Houston weather i paid $189.09 and for anyone from this area knows that's a damn good price for August, average cost was 10 cents.
we did not lose power but i been so busy it slipped me. they actually sent an email to warn us to switch which i just did, goes into effect tomorrow (hopefully)
thanks to the great people of GA.W i was able to stop this. will call them tomorrow but not sure of my options...any lawyer pedes..?
for $969/day i BETTER not lose energy but then again id rather lose power for cpl days then this (financial) disaster.

Yes, from the irs, dated February 5, 2021, for an EIP2 payment. I think they're screwing us Americans.
I got the same letter in January a couple weeks after the payment cleared my account. It threw me off too. I was terrified to open an IRS letter. The first payment came from Trump and was a much nicer letter. I have had to read a lot of government paperwork over the years as a vet and to me the government speak is a way of saying: We the government gave you money and you don’t have to declare it on your taxes. Isn’t that nice.
The EIP2 referenced the second payment. The first being in 2020. Not the first being the $600 we just got. I think a lot of people are going to be confused by this. Very cruel
After further review, Monica February 15 I used 150.6 kwh @ $6.43/kwh totalling for one day $969.03.....ONE FUCKING DAY

With the new digital meters connected to the main office, you can be charged for any amount of electricity they wish.
Back in 1975, before smart meters, I was actually charged one month for more electricity than my house could draw, given the sizes of the fuses in the old fuse box. I complained to the city, and they said I had to pay whatever they said or get my electricity cut off. I did get them to start initialing and dating a sticker on my meter every time it was read. I suspect that they didn't read my meter at all for a few months and then caught it up when they finally actually read it.
Apparently this "Giddy" is an electric supplier.... $9.99/month then the wholesale price/kilowatt....

Oooooooo this article this a gem mate. They are going with, we are a cost sharing platform. We suggested you go to someplace with a fixed rate. Oh none are available, darn. It’s not our fault you used that much electricity when it cost that much.

Whether that is true or not it will absolutely NOT surprise me. We have been marked for punishment/death as soon as Trump got in. How many people will be killed because of this if true ? What comes after this terrorist attack ?
They are already trying to keep us from leaving too, I'm assuming they are going to try and kill our economy buy cutting off snowbirds, or just vaccinating them and taking them completely out the picture, snowbirds may drive us nuts on the road, but their money keeps the lights on.
Once a week I go to my meter box and calculate my own usage and times it with the unit price, never fails. Where I live the power company has to inform you in writing of any price rises, giving you warning to shop elsewhere if need be.

if anyone else in TX may have been effected by this please get in touch with me. i am not sure what our options are if any but this needs to be stickied. if it wasn't for GA i probably would NOT have noticed this until my bank account was completely drained.

Griddy isn't an actual power producing company. They're a sub contracted "provider" of a community based paymeny plan option. They buy power form the source, contract it so they only pay a certain percentage for a predetermined amount of power, and then sell THAT to the consumer, marketed as a "price saving" option to rising power bills.
BUT, what happens when the source jacks up the cost per kWh when staring down a major winter storm as per the contract signed with companies like Griddy?
They get away with this by telling the regulators that it's under contract as a price sharing, community based plan. So, in theory, they can then show that no, not everyone will pay the same or even similar prices, but AVERAGED out across the whole plan, it equals out to, or close to the Nat'l average cost per kWh. So, on paper it looks like there's no price gouging, but in reality...
This is a common ploy for group based insurance plans. The kind of plans where you pay a super small premium per month, but then rapes your bank acct and savings when you have an issue that needs dealing with.
i really appreciate your input. im thinking they got one over on me and not much i can do about it...luckily this will hurt but not destroy me....

This is total BS. State utilities are tightly regulated by the state commissions because they are monopolies. They need to get approval before they raise rates. If they did get such bills, they are erroneous. FAKE NEWS.
