Still don't understand why we would want government to tell private industry what to do. Like let them be safespaces for the left, do your own thing. (Full disclosure: I don't use twitter or facebook)
The problem is you can’t do your own thing now. Parler was shut down. Even the win network was threatened with being shut down if we say the wrong words.
this is a good overview of the state of the situation.
Hence why some people do not like government getting involved with private companies, its like one of the current enemies is hurting the other enemies (big tech), which is a good thing, but in the long term this power could be a way to implement restrictions of speech for the individual, its the start of a slippery slope. But maybe this is a turning point with the other goings on in the world?
Australia is an interesting one, im living here right now and the propaganda is very brutal, and there is always this underlying narrative. Its just very hard to know where we will be in 10 years time, will we having the best years of our lives are all enslaved to an inescapable authoritarian system

Parler is back up using a new server.

domain names on the crypto decentralised network, resolved in all major browsers.
There was some stuff around January 6th. I think Cloudflare said they’d shut it down if people said anything violent.
Of course you can do your own thing. You might have some more hurdles to clear but still doable, just a little harder.
