Without power, we will likely not make it much longer. Below freezing temps inside and outside, dead animals, livestock, and humans are piling up. It's getting to be very hard to "trust" anyone or anything any longer.

Man...
It's not just Texas. Why are all these Texans bitching and whining?
This is a good part of the country. Many more places WAY colder than Texas, and without power.
Because our homes are not built for such weather extremes! Our roads are built to shed water, so they become crowned death traps to drive on. Bring your ass down here and lets see how tough you are! I bet your one of those who cries when the heat gets above 80 degrees in the summer! How about you STFU you POS!
Yes, he was being a jerk but don't let anyone trigger you into feeling more stress and anger. Doesn't do anything but harm you.
Are the roads drivable near you?
Not yet, only around the major cities and the interstates, but thankfully we are forecast to get up to 37 today, so there is a chance for some thawing.
Before casting gsy shade, im right in the fucking MIDDLE of the cold blob.
I was out, in NEGATIVE 8 degrees 2 days ago splitting frozen solid hickory to heat the house.
And before moving here, i lived my entire life in CA.
I worked outside every year in 100+ as a carpenter.
You don't know me personally, or how much of a badass i am.
Gtfo with that projection
Did you stop to think most folks in Texas don't have fireplaces? I doubt it, but since your such a"bad ass", maybe you can protect the millions of people in danger all by yourself. We live months on end above a hundred degrees every single year. That doesn't make someone a bad ass!
Bully for you. Try not being a dickhole in the future.
I moved to Texas from North Idaho. I have never been as cold as I was this week. The houses are not built for the cold here. We had wood and a fireplace but it's more decorative. We were prepared but it was still horrible. I kept asking myself how this happened. We trusted the idiots who said it would be at the very worst rolling blackouts. Those people lied!! My power was off for 4 days in below freezing temperatures.
I am glad you are still with us. I tried to explain this same thing and received a lot of BS comments about how we are being "whiners". Maybe Inuits can survive for 100+ hours of below freezing and close to 0 degree temps, but most of the rest of us can't. Thank GOD we finally have power back on.
Maybe we could try a little kindness and compassion? I don't think anyone is trying to hog the spotlight of suffering. TX just isn't prepared bc this is very abnormal weather for us.
I feel terrible for TX. I truly do not understand the hate towards TX. I lived in New England and this shit happened all the time.....but that was the climate, we knew that so we were generally prepared. This weather is NOT typical for TX and even if it were, many people have no power and are freezing and that alone deserves kindness and compassion. I'm praying for all of you. Those of you bashing TX, I hope you are never in a similar situation.
Every one in this weather needs compassion is my point.
Texas is acting like blm.
Im saying ALL lives matter.
Agreed that we all need compassion and all lives matter. Yes. 100%.
That said, I dunno about politicians but I haven't seen evidence of any TEXANS whining for special treatment. Yes, this is more of a shock to us bc we NEVER get snow/ice storms like this. And many are panicking like deer in the headlights. But I dont think we are being whiny. Folks are just scared.
And when you go comparing us to BLM, well... them’s fighting words, no doubt.
We need more peace and love, patriot. This is a testing time. Let us weather it together with compassion for all.
The reason I said that is due to a FLOOD of texas threads sliding the board. No other state.
When you see that, its usually points to one thing. Shills. (normally)
But regardless, I feel like I have made a very valid point. Many people are suffering. But its only Texas posts.
My state has been losing power through this whole thing. There are trailer parks every where. Many very poor people. No insulation. thin walls.
So , yes, when I see the board slided by all these texas posts, it really makes me wonder. If I saw an equal amount of posts and threads with other states, I wouldnt say shit. Because that makes logical sense. Its been sub zero with -15 to -18 windchill here for about a week straight.
Think about those people in the trailers, especially if they lost power.
Texas getting weather like this is equivalent to Kansas getting a cat-5 hurricane.
The state's infrastructure isn't built to handle what they are experiencing.
You're attacking Texans for "whining", but if your state somehow got a hurricane, you'd be "whining" just as much.
Stop being a DICK.
No, thats not at all an equal comparison.
No infrastructure is built to handle deep freezes like that.
I live in Missouri where it was sub zero for about a week straight.
We got warnings from our electric company that it might shut down too.
Our houses are wrapped in fucking plastic siding. Most people out here live in TRAILERS, with thin, almost uninsulated walls.
We cut down trees. Split wood. Make fire. Use blankets. Dress in several layers of clothing. Etc.
I thought Texans were stronger than this. This freeze isnt discriminating by borders of states. Infrastructure isnt different between Texas and your neighbors, aside from more trailers in the poorer states.
My simple point is, many other people are suffering BIGLY and I am ONLY seeing texans in here bitching.
If you think that once you cross out of your state into your neighboring states that everyone has log cabons, fire places, cords of wood stacked and generators, your mistaken.
Because Texans are not prepared for this type of weather. The colder and more northern areas are.
That said, PRAY FOR EVERYONE!
I'll pray God grants you some empathy to others, because it's plain you only care about yourself!
You people don't read or comprehend. Im saying EVERY ONE in the middle of the country is affected. A lot are far worse off.
But only Texans are complaining.
Most of them have power you moron. We had to go go 7 straight days with a high of 17 and lows below zero. Our homes aren't built for such extremes. I'm willing to bet just one week of Texas summer heat would have you as dead as the many here who have frozen to death. You'd do good to think of the plight of others before you continue to flap your gums Mr. Bad Ass!
It's easier than helping!
