Great story... not one mention of Xidens executive order that contributed to this debacle.. DOE ordered to lower "greenhouse gas emmissions" and reduced generation right before the storm... instead it demonizes the systems in place.. likely in order to create conditions for a more centralized big goverment approach
That's an inaccurate reading of the order. See my comments here.

"To minimize adverse environmental impact this order limits operation.." (snippet).. no I'd say that pretty accurate
Sooo your saying that there was NO decrease order given.. so as to minimize green house gases? Well I'll be..
This seems like an easy good-fund-me for someone to get started. That is, if the electric company will even be allowed to collect those outrageous sums. I suspect the state legislature will have something to say about that. (If the story is even true.)

Highly doubt this is a fake story since every news outlet is covering it and Abbott held an emergency meeting
Thanks. I'm glad to hear the governor and legislature are addressing it. The whole thing is so preposterous. No matter how bad the storm, that kind of increase is not justified. Most people would be horrified if their usual bill had doubled, let alone tripled. I believe we'll see people rescued from this particular outrage. I hope so, anyway.
Definitely. The national outcry will make a difference. I hope they refund the vet his money. The power NEVER should have even sent these bills out in the first place.
Apparently the poor guy emptied out his savings to pay it.
Wow! We lost power a week ago. Still out. We had a gas log starter and firewood that kept 1 room warmish. For 16 thousand? Nah, I’d just bundle up with my wife and wait it out.
Got a generator but to be effective it must be plugged into your house through a circuit set up to use electric just for important parts of the house.

Will make a nice roll out for the new tech, agreed.
On with it!
Definitely seems like not relying on the grid is the way to go.
Perhaps. Or don't sign up for a plan that sells you power at the wholesale market rate.
Lmao, I would have lived up to my username to save 17 thousand.
