Same thing happening up here in Montana. We had the very large Colstrip units 1-4 which were built with much taxpayer funds over the last 50 years. Now they have (in the last 10 years) shut down Units 1 and 2, and are in the process of closing 3 and eventually 4. Much of the power was used to power Washington state over the last 20 years but PG&E and WA state outlawed coal generated power leaving Montana coal power out in the cold. We need coal power up here in the frozen north, but our politicians are sold out to Northwestern Energy and over the next 5 years we had better keep these plants from being closed or we will end up without sufficient power to heat and cool our homes and businesses. And we are a red state for CS.
