I've been at the bottom like this before. It's no picnic. Until you've ever had to worry about things while under the grip of poverty, keep the "parents should be held accountable" shit to a low, low minimum, mmkay?

Really? Where were the parents? You let a family member die due to the weather? Perhaps the parents should be in jail for neglect.

Just a thought, you call 911?? Some/most first responders are good people and would help this family find a place to stay.
