There are several flying training bases in Texas, as well as in OK and FL panhandle. The T6 or Tex II is only a trainer. It's a beginner jet trainer. Later, after completing training and getting an assignment, training continues on assigned jet. It's 75 and sunny here in Texas today - perfect day for flying.
Seems like an awful lot of trainers in the sky at one time. I guess I would have to confirm what is normal, but it seemed like a lot from what I have seen in the past. I do know that VIP planes sometimes fly with bogus plane types and call signs. Not sure if the same holds true with others. My cousin flies for the NG so I will ask next time we chat.

That's a good point, I don't know what's normal for number of trainers.
